Join us at the Second #140conf Small Town on Sept 20; Hutchinson, KS

Last year at #140conf Small Town, we had people from all over America who came to Hutchinson, Kansas and shared their stories as well as the people who came to Hutchinson to hear them. Speakers came from not just Kansas from from 8 other States too. Our speakers shared their stories about the real-time web and how it is changing their lives and their businesses in the Small Towns they lived in.

Of the ten #140conf events which took place in 2010, #140conf Small Town was our 4th largest. In 2011 #140conf Small Town is the only event in America that is being produced outside of NYC.

Why?

Because Jeff realized how important it is to provide a stage and a voice to the people outside of the "big cities" whose lives continue to be impacted by the evolution of the real-time web. After a lifetime of producing events in big cities, #140conf Small Town continues to have an impact in how he thinks and how he approaches community.

Having been part of #140Conf events in New York, LA, London, Boston, Detroit and many other cities, I was amazed at the vibe and great energy that we discovered in a small town like Hutchinson.  I promise that you will enjoy the experience. The perspectives shared opened by eyes to a part of America which I knew of but never felt connected with. I now do. It is never too late to reach out and discover something about yourself or your country.

A sampling of the many wonderful stories shared at #140conf events in Hutchinson, Kansas last year:

Jay Ehret (@themarketingguy) - Creator of marketing awesomeness. Turning Entrepreneurs into marketers. - http://140conf-telaviv.blip.tv/file/4326235/

Becky McCray (@BeckyMcCray) - The Small Town Advantage - http://140conf-telaviv.blip.tv/file/4326048/

related video - Jeff Pulver School Bus Drag Racing (that's me behind the camera... so I have lived to share the story)

On September 20th, Jeff Pulver and Becky McCray will be co-hosting #140conf Small Town 2011. We will be back in Hutchinson, Kansas to share a spotlight on some of the people who will be sharing their stories about how the real-time web is changing their lives.

Whether you are from a Big City or a Small Town, you are in for an amazing day shared only the way #140conf can deliver it to you.

Our "Early Bird" ticket prices ends on Friday for this event. For more information and to register, please visit: http://smalltown.140conf.com/

If You Care About Education, Please Join Us For #140Edu - NYC - Aug 2-3

If, in the randomness of someone reading this post today, I am hoping you may be personally involved, or know someone who is invovled and cares about education.

Screen_shot_2011-07-25_at_10

We need your help to invite educators to join us at #140edu taking place next week at the 92nd St Y on August 2-3 in New York City.

I would greatly appreciated it if you could take a moment and forward this email to your friends involved in education.

Please also include any friends who are parents who live in the metro NYC / NJ area.

Back in March when Jeff Pulver reached out to Chris Lehmann and together they decided to put on an event to take on an issue of our generation...education.

Personally I am very excited about the people who are speaking at our inaugural #140edu which includes a variety of: students, teachers, administrators and parents.

  • You can review the speakers here
  • You can review the schedule here

This the first event of it's kind to explore how the real-time web is effecting education and a chance to catch up with some of the educators who are leading the charge and bringing change to education.

We want to make sure we have as many people on hand to take part in and have a voice at this first of a kind event.

So that's  where you come in.

The event pricing is optimized to bring together educators and students and the education industry. The cost to attend this two day conference is as follows:

  • $1.40 for educators  (teachers, principals, administrators, tutors, etc.)
  • $15.00 for students
  • Everyone else, just $140.00

Our hope is to bring together the most diverse community of people who are passionate about the state of education.

If you have a vested interest in the future of education, please make it a point to join us in NYC next week.

My remaining challenge is to do everything I can to make sure as many people as possible who have a vested interest in the future of education become aware of this conference.

This is where you come in. With your help, I believe anything becomes possible.

I had the opportunity to work with Chris when Jeff Pulver and I did our 3,100 mile #140Conf Road Trip that was sponsored by Buick and of course the #140Conf Detroit that was held last October.

I know there's lots to read out there.

Drop something else you are reading, follow Chris for a while, and then decide.

Highly Recommended.

As a friend of the #140Conf Community, here's update on upcoming events and opportunities for you to connect and engage with other members of the community.

#140Conf NYC Update:

We've just had  Sprint join us as a sponsor of #140conf NYC. It took two years but we're happy to report that “The NOW Network” and “The State of NOW” are now working together.  If you are interested in sponsorship information, please reach out to me - alan at weinkrantz dot com.  We have some very unique program offerings and a compelling and targeted reach.

Scoble__long

Special thanks to everyone who took the time to submit a speaking proposal for the upcoming #140conf NYC event taking place on June 15th and 16th at the 92nd Street Y in New York City.  Several hundred speaking proposals were received from friends based across North America, with some additional proposals received from: Europe, South America and Asia.

Jeff is still reviewing the proposals and curating our conference schedule. While he will not be able to place everyone who expressed an interest in speaking, he appreciates  the interest in being part of the event.

If you are planning on attending #140conf NYC and joining the worldwide #140conf community gathering, now would be a great time to REGISTER.

Fashion140: May 4th at Alice Tully Hall in Lincoln Center

Fashion140 is our new groundbreaking fashion event for 2011 taking place on May 4th at Alice Tully Hall in Lincoln Center. At Fashion140 we will be exploring how social media is changing the Fashion Industry. It will be the first conference of it’s kind to take a hard look at how the adoption of the real-time social web is changing the way the fashion industry works.

This event will be really great because Jeff is  co-hosting this event with his partner, Lilly Berelovich of Fashion Snoops.

Again, a big shout out to  everyone responsible for the overwhelming positive response we received from our first “Call for Speakers.” We are currently working on curating the schedule and confirming the speakers for this event.  And like the #140Conf NY, if you are interested in sponsorship info, please reach out to me.

“Early Bird” registration for Fashion140 ends on March 11th.  To register, please visit: http://fashion140.com/register

Reminder: “Super Early Bird” Prices for #140conf NYC ends Dec 31st

Screen_shot_2010-12-28_at_11
Since 2009, the global #140conf events have become the place to explore the real-time internet and it’s effects on both business and on people. I take great pride in having had the opportunity to help Jeff Pulver in working with sponsors, media and being a part of various Road Trips that helped us connect with our community.

During 2010 we provided a platform where the voices of individuals making a difference were heard. Our stage put a spotlight on humanity and we provided a venue which helped a few thousand people connect with each other through serendipity.

On June 15-16, 2011, #140conf NYC returns to the 92nd Street Y.  This event will be a world-wide gathering of people interested in the state of the real-time web.

For #140conf NYC 2011, there are two types of tickets available, “Regular” and “VIP.”  Until midnight on December 31st, Regular tickets are available at the “super early bird” discounted price of US $80. During 2011 the price of these tickets will rise from $80 to $100 to $140 to $249 each.  If you can commit to attending #140conf NYC now, this is the best price you will be able to attend the entire 2-day event.

The “VIP” option is available for people who wish to get more out of the #140conf experience. The pricing of the VIP ticket includes:

- invitation to cocktails with the #140conf NYC speakers on June 14th
- dinner with Jeff Pulver and other VIPs and a few special guests on June 14th
- a box lunch at #140conf on June 15 and 16th.
- preferred seating at the 92nd Street Y during #140conf NYC.

VIP tickets are currently priced at $495 and will increase to $595 and then $695 as the event nears. There are a limited number of VIP tickets for sale for this event.

Please visit: http://nyc.140conf.com/register before midnight on December 31st to take advantage of these prices.

Hope you have a great year ahead.
